Michael James Larson, Esq., obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1993.  He then obtained his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Touro Law Center in 1999.  At Touro, Michael was an active member of the Trial Competition Board, the Student Bar Association and volunteered his time by working for Nassau/Suffolk Law Services.  

In 2000, Michael was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army JAG Corps and graduated from the Judge Advocate General School at the University of Virginia in 2000.  Upon graduation, Michael completed U.S. Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, XVIII Airborne Corps. At Fort Bragg, Michael was promoted to Captain and was part of the Staff Judge Advocate’s office at the XVIII Airborne Corps Headquarters.  At Fort Bragg, he represented hundreds of service members and their family members in areas such as family law, consumer law, wills, administrative law, debt restructuring/collections, contracts, etc.  

In 2002, Michael deployed to Bosnia Herzegovina as part of NATO’s Stabilization Forces 9. In Bosnia, Michael was the Chief of Claims of the Multi-National Division North and was responsible for, among other areas, investigating / adjudicating a wide myriad of claims.  In fact, he is a founding member of the Balkin Bar Association and once argued a case in front of Bosnian Supreme Court Justices in Sarajevo.  Upon re-deploying to the United States, Michael served as Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) for the Department of Justice / Fort Bragg.  In that role, Michael was responsible for the prosecution of civilian violations, misdemeanors and felonies committed on the military installation.  Upon completing his tour, Michael worked for AIG’s Environmental Claims Division in Manhattan and then as an associate at several law firms specializing in areas such as labor law / insurance defense, subrogation, contracts, and real estate matters.  

Michael is the founding member of Michael J. Larson, P.C. and is admitted to practice in New York (03) and Connecticut (99).  He is a member of New York County Lawyers (NYCLA) (Solo Practitioner Section and Criminal Justice Committee); the New York State Bar Association and New York State Trial Lawyers Association.  Michael practices in the following areas: accidents (car, motorcycle, boating, pedestrian strikes, slip and falls, construction, workplace), business litigation, collection/judgments, contracts, criminal defense, employment & labor, false arrests; family law; immigration; insurance defense; landlord & tenant; medical malpractice; personal injury; real estate; and traffic violations.   

Michael is originally from Suffolk County, Long Island and currently resides in Manhattan.  He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys all things Montauk, diving, snowboarding, fishing, boating and adventure traveling.
